Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint (MMS Milk Paint) was created by Marian “Miss Mustard Seed’ in 2012.
With a love of painting furniture Marian decided to create milk paint colours to suit her individual painting style.
As the headline states on the company’s website, five simple ingredients are used to create twenty-five colours.
The simple formula of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint includes milk protein in the form of casein, limestone, clay, chalk and natural/non-toxic synthetic colour pigments.
It is perfect for all internal and exterior decorating, furniture painting and DIY. All MMS paints, preparation products and finishes are environmentally friendly and also contains no VOCs.

Having used this type of paint in many of my craft and furniture restoration projects I have developed an easy way to mix milk paints.
Milk Paint Uses
Milk paint has a long history in American decoration. It was developed to decorate farmhouses and furniture during the colonial American period.
Although it fell by the wayside as newer paints were developed, some of which were toxic such as lead paint, it has made a big resurgence over the last half a century. The resurgence and development of DIYers and their associated projects have played a big role in this.
With that in mind, milk paint is the perfect paint for most types of decorating surfaces. This includes drywall, plaster and wood.
