I have been busting my buttons to get around to using Miss Mustard Seeds Hemp Oil on a piece of furniture! After finding this little table at my local thrift shop I knew that my wish had finally come true. I loved the top of the table and all the different directions the wood went in the top of the table. So rather than painting over it, I decided to use Miss Mustard Milk Paint Hemp Oil to really bring out the beauty of the wood. Sharing my Vintage Farmhouse Table Makeover using Hemp Oil tutorial with you.
Vintage Farmhouse Table Makeover using Hemp Oil
Supplies needed:
- Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint – Farmhouse White
- Paint Brush
- Miss Mustard Seed Bonding Agent
- Miss Mustard Seed Hemp
- Soft Cloth
- 180 and 120 grit sandpaper and sander
- Old side table
Step 1 – Mix up your milk paint. One part water to one part milk paint and one part bonding agent. Let the paint combine while you get onto your next step. Using your sander and 180 grit sandpaper sand back the table top to remove any water marks or stains. Then go over it again with your 120 grit sandpaper to smooth everything out.
Step 2 – Take your paint brush and go to town painting the base of the table. For this table, I gave it 3 coats letting each coat dry in between. Take care not to splatter any paint onto the top of the table.
Then using 120 grit sandpaper and your sander distress to your liking. If you need some tips on distressing see my previous post here. Wax to seal.
Step 3 – Taking your soft cloth and hemp oil, apply liberally. Apply 1 to 3 coats of hemp oil allowing 2 hours for it to dry in between coats. After the final coat has been applied and dried apply wax for extra protection. Wax the legs.
And there you have a brand new vintage farmhouse table to adorn your home!

Thank you Kellie. I’m sure you will love it 🙂
You saved that sad little table and made it look beautiful again! I used hemp oil to seal the table I painted with milk paint. That stuff is awesome!
How awesome is it!! I used it a little while back and was so chuffed with it and couldn’t wait to use it again!
Love, love, love how this table turned out! Great job Sam!
Thank you so much Tara! It’s amazing what a little hemp oil can do to bring back the beauty of wood 🙂
Lovely! I love seeing old sad furniture brought back to life
Thank you! It sure does bring a smile to my face bringing old things back to life! Better than throwing them out that’s for sure 🙂
Such a great makeover Sam I love the contrast of the legs
I too love the contrast of wood and White Amber! There’s just something about it!
Its really fantastic how you fixed the top of this table. It looks so nice beside the white legs. I have to read up on hemp oil I am wondering if it would be good or the honey coloured cabinets.
Hemp oil is magic to work with! It really brings out the character of the wood while protecting it!

What a transformation on that table! Just a little sanding & hemp oil brought those like-new-looking results? I’m impressed! I bought some hemp oil a while back. I’m looking at it with new eyes now. Thanks for sharing this at Sweet Inspiration this week!
