Raise your hands if you come across loads of doors when out thrifting! Or even have spotted them on the side of the road while out travelling but not sure what to do with them? Today for Waste Not Wednesday I’m sharing a fun way on how to make a Vintage Farmhouse Door Sign for wall art.

Welcome back to Waste Not Wednesday! For those who have been following along for a while, you’ll know Waste Not Wednesday as a linky party. But Leanna and I have decided to change things up a bit. Each Wednesday we will be bringing you fun projects not only from us but some of our favourite bloggers. This week’s theme is Wall Art!
Supplies needed:
- Old Door
- TSP
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Coal Black
- IOD Decor Transfer – Redoute
- 120 grit sandpaper
- Gather Decal
- Wax – Clear

Step 1 – Using your 120 grit sandpaper give the door a really good scuff sand. Then clean with TSP.
Step 2 – Paint your door twice with Coal Black, letting each coat dry in between.
Step 3 – Cut and layout your Redoute transfer in a design that you would like. Keep the backing paper on while doing this otherwise, the transfer will stick on your door where you don’t want it to. Be sure to take into account the Gather Decal size when doing so. Apply your transfer with the applicator stick.
Almost there!
Step 4 – Using the shiny side of the grided transfer film burnish over your transfer to ensure that the transfer has adhered properly to your sign.
Step 5 – Using an old store card or scraper press firmly over your Gather Decal. Peel away the backing paper, line up and apply to your door. Burnish with your store card or scraper. Distress to the door frame to your liking and apply wax to seal in all your hard work. I only applied wax to the wooden door frame, not the glass. I have not had any issues with the transfers lifting from the glass on other projects.
