A little while back I came across a wooden plate at the thrift store. It had already been painted white but needed something a little more. So of course the plate had to come home with me. Today for Waste Not Wednesday, I’m sharing a super-easy way on how to upcycle a thrifted wooden plate.

Welcome back to Waste Not Wednesday! For those who have been following along for a while, you’ll know Waste Not Wednesday as a linky party. But Leanna and I have decided to change things up a bit. Each Wednesday, we will be bringing you fun projects from us and some of our favourite bloggers. This week’s theme is upcycling thrifted items!
Supplies needed:
- A wooden plate – or you could use a metal or wooden tray
- TSP
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Casement
- Brush
- IOD Decor Transfer – Painterly Florals
- Wax – Clear
- Wax Brush
- 120 grit sandpaper

Step 1 – Give your plate a good clean with TSP. If your plate already has a finish give it a light sand with your sandpaper.
Step 2 – Take your brush and give the plate 2 coats of Casement letting each coat dry completely.
Step 3 – Work out what parts of the Painterly Florals decor transfer you would like to use. I used the lavender part for this plate.
Almost there!
Step 4 – Distress your plate to your liking using your 120 grit sandpaper and seal with wax using your wax brush.
Now it’s time to add your freshly new upcycled plate to your home!
