You know when you’ve had a chalkboard for a while it starts to lose the ability to write on it. Yes, you could reapply some more black paint to keep on using it but today I’m sharing another fun way on how to upcycle a Farmhouse Chalkboard.
How to Upcycle A Farmhouse Chalkboard

There’s just something so fun when you’re able to save something with a little help from some paint, stamps and decor transfers. Using mixed media definitely takes your projects in a creative direction and the possibilities are all up to you and your creativeness.
I’m super excited to be joining some of my blogging pals for a fun Creative Craft Blog Hop. Where we’ll be sharing lots of fun things that you can make too!

Supplies needed:
- old chalkboard or you can find this one for sale over in my SHOP
- Fusion Mineral Paint – TSP
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Raw Silk
- Brush – I used the F30
- Fusion Mineral – Champness
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Clear Wax
- 40 and 120 grit sandpaper
- Iron Orchid Designs Decor Transfers – Wander
- Iron Orchid Designs Decor Ink – Stone Gray
- Brayer
- 120 Grit Sandpaper
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Chocolate Sample
- Iron Orchid Designs Decor Stamp – Typesetting
- Iron Orchid Designs Decor Stamp – Craquelure
- Wax Brush
- Old Rags
When using decor transfers should I remove the backing paper?
When using decor transfers its always good practice to keep the backing paper on your transfer because if you get anything like dust or the transfer adheres to something it will stick and could also affect the transfer adhering properly.

Step 1 – Give the entire chalkboard a clean with TSP and some warm water. Using an old rag dry off and then grab your brush and give the entire chalkboard 2 coats of Raw Silk.
Step 2 – Using a led pencil draw a crock in the lower panel of the chalkboard. Using some watered down Champness give the crock a washed look. Let dry.
Then cutting out various flowers and greenery from your decor transfer and start layering and applying then to your crock so that it looks like the flowers are spilling out.

Almost there – Using the Typesetting Decor Stamp and Stone Gray Ink stamp on the word “bloom” to the top part of the chalkboard. Then using the Craquelure Stamp lightly stamp in the background around the crock to give it some dimension.
Using some chocolate float around the crock to make it pop.
Step 4 – Using some watered down Champness apply to the frame to give it a washed effect. Once dried using the 120 grit sandpaper distress the frame to your liking.
Final Step – Stamp your favourite Crockery Stamp in the centre of your crock and let dry. Then to finish and seal in all your hard work grab your wax brush and wax.
