One of my most favourite part of furniture makeovers would have to be when working on kids furniture! To see the absolute delight of my little customers after they see their new chair or table or rocking horse or dollhouse makes what I do so much special. This was the case with this Twinkle Twinkle Kids Table and Chair!

Supplies needed:
- Kids table and chair – You may have one already or I am always finding them in my local thrift stores or garage sales
- Chalk Paint – I used my own Milk and Duck Egg Chalk paint mix
- Paint Brush
- Sander with 180 grit and 12o grit sandpaper
- Liner Brush
- Americana Lamp Black Acrylic paint
- Star Stencil
- Spouncer
- Printer
- Transfer paper
Step 1- First of all take your sander and give the top of the desk a sand to rough up the surface so that the paint has more to stick to.
Step 2 – Apply 3 coats of milk coloured chalk paint or whatever colour you decided to use. Making sure to let each coat dry in between coats.
Step 3 – Using your sander with 120 grit sandpaper distress on the table top. I was pretty heavy-handed with sanding as I love the distressed look but feel free to lighten up a bit if you don’t want it as distressed.
Font Time – Step 4 – Choose a font of your choice (I used Simon Script) and print out the words “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. I used Word to do this and increased the font size accordingly to the size of the table top.
Step 5 – Using the transfer paper and a pencil trace the words out onto the top of your table. You can trace them where ever you would like. So for this table, I went for around the edges.
Step 6 – Pop some black paint out on an old tile or plate. Water down slightly by dipping your paintbrush into some water and mixing into your puddle of paint. Then using your liner brush block in the words.
Step 7 – Stencil a star in between each word using Duck Egg Chalk Paint using your spouncer.
Distressing Time!
Lets Sand – Step 8 – Time to sand again! Using your sander, sand lightly over the wording and the stars until you are happy with the effect. Also, don’t worry too much if you go to hard as you can always repaint if needed.
Step 9 – Give your chair 2 to 3 coats of Duck Egg Chalk Paint, letting dry in between each coat.
Stenciling time – Step 10 – Grab your Star stencil and stencil a star to the back of your chair.
Step 11– Once completely dry, use your sander with 120 grit paper to distress the table top to your taste.
Last Step 12 – Finally wax the table top and chair using a wax brush or a chux cloth and seal in all the goodness that you just painted!
I absolutely enjoyed how this sweet Twinkle Twinkle Kids table and Chair turned out but it was most noteworthy that my “little” customer was even happier! The sweet little man had a very in-depth conversation with me about how he was going to become an astronaut! In addition, his new Table and Chair was going to be where he would be building his spaceship!!! He was all of the age of 4! {How adorable right?! Bless his cotton socks}

Sam, this little table and chair is too adorable!! Love all the details! How cute that your little customer was going to keep his table and chair where he would build his spaceship. Of course he would need a place to sit and draw up the schematics of his spaceship. 😉
