For the first time in a long while, I was able to go on a little treasure hunt with my pal Chris. Our day was filled with lots of giggles and oo’s and ahhh’s with all the finds that we came across. I am so grateful to have met Chris a long time ago while being apart of the Chocolate Crow Trader which was an online marketplace where lot’s of creative gals would make goodies and then sell them online. We kinda lost touch there for a while but thankfully a few years ago due to what I believe was serendipity, we reconnected and boy we haven’t looked back since! So while we were out and about I came across some goodies to share with you and How to Paint Thrifted Wooden Trays Farmhouse Style.

Supplies Needed:

Step 1 – Clean down your trays from any grime using hot soapy water and let dry completely overnight.

Step 2 – Mix 2 parts Milk Paint to 2 Paints water for about 5 to 10 minutes. Let sit to combine. Give your trays 2 coats of paint letting the paint dry completely in between.

Step 3 – Grab your sanding block and distress to your liking. It will look a little dull but once you have applied the wax it will really make the black pop and the wood underneath!

Step 4 – Place your stencil on your trays ensuring the numbers you have chosen fit accordingly. Make sure they are straight and begin stencilling using your spouncer with your paint.
TIP – If you don’t feel comfortable holding the stencil while stencilling use some painters tape to hold the stencil down.
