This next project is something that has absolutely thrown my creative mind to another level. I saw it on Pinterest and had to have a try myself. All I can say is that my hubby better not stand still for too long as he may very well be stamped. So after seeing some plain white plates at my local thrift shop, I’m sharing how to stamp Farmhouse Thrifted Plates, to use for decorative purposes around your home. to Stamp Farmhouse Thrifted Plates.
How To Stamp Farmhouse Thrifted Plates
I just love how you can take something plain and boring and give it a unique touch and something that you won’t find in a shop! That’s what makes your house a home with your own creative stamp on it. These plates would look great on a gallery wall with all different shapes and sizes. I’m keeping an eye out for some white platters the next time I’m at the thrift store!
Let’s get creating.
Supplies needed:
- Old White Plates – Or you can find these ones already made over in my shop!
- IOD Decor Stamp – Craquelure
- IOD Decor Stamp – Queen Bee
- StazOn Ink – Stone Grey
- IOD Decor Stamp – Floral Swags
- Brayer
Step 1 – Wash your plates to ensure they are all squeaky clean and free of dust that may obstruct the stamp.

Step 2 – Grab your Craquelure stamp and load up your brayer with some ink. Then apply to your stamp. Lightly apply the stamp and let run your fingers over the top of the stamp lightly to get that lovely crackled effect. Practice on a sheet of paper if you like to get used to the application. Let completely dry.

Step 3 – Then choosing from your Queen Bee Decor Stamps or Floral Swags Stamp create your own unique designs.

The possibilities are endless with what you can create!

They would make great gifts too!

Such a quick an easy project to make and would be fun to include your kiddies and grandkids to see what they create!
Happy Stamping!

Don’t have time to make now? Be Sure to PIN for later!

Hi Sam, these are so cute! I have some IOD stamps and love them. This looks like a great way to use them. My question , can you use the plates after you stamp them and then hand wash?
Thank, Kim
Aren’t they just the best thing to add some fun to a project, Kim! I have designed these ones for decorating purposes only. I wouldn’t encourage using them for food because of the caution that is on the back of the StazOn ink pad which reads as follows:
Use in a well-ventilated area. Do not inhale or ingest. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
The ink is designed especially for use on plastic, metal, glass, ceramic, laminated paper, coated paper and leather.
I have wiped my plates down for a test with a damp cloth to clean and the design still remained intact. I wouldn’t recommend on immersing and leaving in the water as this may dissolve the ink.
I may have missed it and I apologize if I did but where did you get the bird stamp? Thx so much. Love this idea.
Hi there Teresa! My deepest apologies!! I neglected to include the IOD Floral Swag Stamp, which the little bird is apart of. You can find the stamp here http://raggedy-bits.com/product/iron-orchid-designs-decor-stamp-floral-swags/ or find an IOD Stockist near you here: https://ironorchiddesigns.com/find-a-retailer/
Please let me know if you have any further questions 🙂
