A Simple Vintage Farmhouse Vignette is such a fun and easy thing to do! They don’t have to be expensive and can pack a real punch in your home. Today I am joining some blogging pals to share some simple ways to make your own vignettes no matter what the season. It just so happened that over this past weekend we moved a piece of furniture into our new home. It’s one of those pieces that fly’s open the doors of sweet memories of my Granny. And up until 2 years ago there had been many a day trying to find one that wasn’t going to cost an arm and a leg! But one day when my hubby and kiddos dragged me outside to show me what they had bought me for my birthday. My heart almost stopped, tears welled up in my eyes and then a squeal of delight! Any guesses as to what it might be?
Simple Vintage Farmhouse Vignette
If you were thinking an old Singer Sewing Machine you soooo get first prize!!! She need’s a little TLC but she is a dream come true and makes me smile… a whole lot.
So lets get down to making a super simple Vintage Farmhouse Vignette!
Before you grab your handbag and run out the door…. whooooww up nelly!!!
Shop your home first
This is by far the most cheapest way to chop and change things around your home without breaking the bank. Like these Repurposed Vintage Farmhouse Candle Holders that I made for our coffee table a while back.
Head on out into your garden
Add some fresh greenery and flowers from your garden. I had to cheat a bit here because we are heading into Spring here in Australia and the flowers are only just starting to bloom. I picked these up at the supermarket for $5. They were $10. So if you don’t have a garden or not a gardener keep an eye out at your local supermarket for bargain bunches of flowers.
Use things from other Seasons
The 2 silver mercury glass candle holders are from our Christmas decorations… yup Christmas!! I love them so much they have been out allll year round. The clock use to be in our kitchen but I added it to soften down the deep wood of the sweet sewing machine.
Linen, Doily’s and Lace
Add some soft linen, Doily’s or Lace. This adds some texture and also is an easy way to complete the Vintage Farmhouse Charm.
Making pretty corners, side tables or bench tops in your home doesn’t need to be an expensive exercise. Believe me I found out the hard way!
Be sure to see what amazing Vignettes my friends are sharing below and keep an eye out for our next month’s post!
Happy Vignetting!

That Singer Sewing machine is just fabulous, Sam! I have an old Singer that I inherited from my mother (sans table) and I so adore it. Would love to incorporate it into a vignette somehow. Feeling inspired by your styling. A real show stopper!

Sam, I love all of your tips, especially shopping around your own home. & how sweet of you kids and hubby to find you a vintage singer sewing machine!! I love it. My mom has one too & I sometimes want to steal it from her ;). I can’t wait to see more and more of your new home!
Thank you, Kellie! We are getting there slowly.
Great tips Sam! Shopping my home first is also a rule of thumb for me. My grandma was a seamstress for many many years, and I can remember her having a similar sewing machine. So sweet that your kids and hubby got it for you.
Sure was sweet of them! And it’s so nice that one item can stir up so many lovely memories for people!
