Welcome to another fun quick painting tip! Where each week I’m going to share with you a fun painting tip that will help you along in your painting adventure. One of the biggest questions I get asked How To Mix Milk Paint. So let’s dive in!
How To Mix Milk Paint The Easy Way
So far we have covered
- How to Clean and take care of your Cling On! Brushes
- How to Stop Paint Lids Sticking
- Cleaning Wax Brushes the Easy Way
Now let’s get busy with how I have found the easiest way to mix milk paint
Supplies needed:
- Your favourite colour of Miss Mustard Seed or Sweet Pickins Milk Paint
- A small whisk
- A plastic cup
- Metal Measuring Spoons
- Measuring Jug
- For this tutorial, I used Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint – Eulalie’s Sky
Step 1 – Pop some warm water into your measuring jug. Then using your metal measuring spoon measure out 1:1 ration of your favourite milk paint to water. For this example, I measured 1 tbs milk powder to 1 tbs warm water. The colour I used was Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint – Eulalie’s Sky.
Step 2 – Add the milk powder to the cup, then add the water. You can add the water first if you prefer but I have just always added powder first.
Step 3 – Using your small mixer, mix the paint and water for approximately 2 to 5 minutes, until well combined. Let sit while you prepare your piece to paint. Then once ready to start painting mix again and go nuts painting!
Hope this tutorial has taken away any fears you may have with milk paint! It truly is a wonderful paint to use and get a nice authentic vintage chippy feel to your pieces!
Happy Painting!
