Finding and using salvaged galvanized goodies has been something I have loved to do since I would go and stay on my grandparent’s apple farm. I would find things from old tin cans to galvanized stencils that they would label the wooden apple boxes with. So today I thought I would share with you 5 Fun Ways to add Galvanized Farmhouse Wares to your Decor.
5 Fun Ways to Add Galvanized Farmhouse Wares to your Decor
Finding galvanized goodies is just part of the thrill! Whether it be at your local garage sale or thrift shop there is always something galvanised that you can take home and add to your decor. When you get them home the real fun begins with finding a new home for all of your new found treasures. So when your out and about be sure to keep an eye out for these 5 Galvanized Goodies to decorate with.
1. Grab Old Tin Cans
Once you get your tins home give them a good clean in hot soapy water and get rid of all the grime. Then add a simple bunch of faux hydrangeas or greenery. Add a number tag, Old books and basket and you’re done!
2. Snavel up old grain scoops
Grain scoops are fun to pop faux greenery into or even a candle to brighten up any old room. If you don’t have any luck finding old grain scoops Amazon has some reproduction ones that will do the trick.
3. Mini Galvanized Buckets
These little guys are always popping up in my local thrift store and are great not only for little vignettes around your home. They are perfect to store your crafty goodies in, like paintbrushes, pens, scissors etc. Amazon also has a set of 3 galvanized buckets which would be perfect. There are also lots of galvanised goodies available at your $2 Shop too.
4. Keep an eye out for Galvanised Trays
Having your vignettes set on a galvanized tray lifts your display and adds a nice farmhouse feel. Plus of course, they double up as an awesome little helper when you’re entertaining!
5. Don’t walk straight past Old Cake Tins
You probably think I’ve lost my mind! Old Cake Tins with all their embedded burnt bits from all of those yummy cakes that have been baked are the perfect addition! Just like this nut loaf tin that we have sitting on our Hall Stand. I just removed the lid off one end and left the other end on it. Makes the perfect farmhouse style vase don’t you think?
Happy Decorating!

Thank you, Deborah! 🙂
I too love the look of galvanized metal and you sure do have an impressive collection. Love it all.
Oh me too Denise!! They just add a really nice touch 🙂
I so love the way you decorate Sam. Can you fly out to South Africa and come help me out please? I promise you’ll find tons of galvanized things here too. They sell them on the side of the road for a bargain 😉
I’ll be right over lovely!!! Would LOVE to help you!! And of course, I’d love to see all of the goodies available!
You girl are right up my alley! I too have a love for anything galvanized. I never shy away from the rust and crust. In fact, I like em like that! 🙂 Just yesterday I found an unusual tall can at an barn sale. It has the neatest vintage green spout. The guy said he thought it was some kind of milk can. Can’t wait to use it in my decor! Everything you’ve put together looks just darling. I hopped over from Farmhouse Friday. I have a link party that airs on Thursday mornings. Share Your Cup Thursday. It’s about sharing what makes you happy. I’d love if you shared sometime!

Jann
Oh, Jann!! We must be kindred spirits!! Are all things galvanised just bursting with character!! Thank you for the invitation to your party and I will be sure to pop on over and say hi!!
Love these ideas Sam, especially the last one with the spindles in it. Love your style of decorating. I am bad about when I see something and think I know I’ve seen that turned into something really cool. But my mind goes blank so I walk on past. But I will be looking at galvanized differently from now on.
I’m so glad that you like them, Linda!! Oh boy will you have fun with all of the goodies you find!
I love all of these ideas Sam!
Thank you for sharing at Create, Bake, Grow & Gather this week. I’m delighted to be featuring your galvanised post at tonight’s party and pinning too!
