You guessed it! It’s that time of the month again where I team up with my blogging pals for our Inspired Makers Challenge. This months Challenge is all about making a project that is $10 and under. So today I’m sharing how to make an under $10 Farmhouse Table Runner with Ikea Tea Towels. Not only is it super cheap but is so quick and easy to make.
How to make a Farmhouse Table Runner with Ikea Tea Towels for under $10
If you missed last months challenge it was all about Red, White and Blue Projects.
Supplies needed:
- 2 x Ikea Vardagen Tea Towels
- Coordinating Cotton
- Scissors
- Sewing Machine
- Pins
- Iron
Step 1– These tea towels from Ikea are huge and the perfect size for a table runner. They are 100% linen and only $2.99 AU each! What a bargain right? Firstly cut off the tags and the fabric loops off the tea towels
Step 2 – Pin the edges of the tea towels together right sides together. Make sure you line up the grain sack stripes as best as you can so that they aren’t crooked.
Step 3 – Sew the tea towels together along the seam line. Remove pins.
Step 4 – Give the table runner a nice hot press with your iron.
And that’s it! A farmhouse style table runner all for $5.98 AU! Be sure to check out below and see what my pals have been up to for our fun $10 and under projects!
Happy Sewing!

This is such a cute project, Sam. I love those towels.
Such a great idea Sam, I must have missed those the last time I was there for about 4 hours LOL They make a lovely runner, and under your wood runner for a layer effect is beautiful!
This is a cute idea. I hope they sell these in my branch, haven’t been there for a while.
