It’s Day 4 of our 5 Day Thrifting Challenge! I can’t believe how clever you guys have been in creating your own versions with your thrifted items! Your projects have also inspired me and tickled pink with all of your sweet emails. Today we are going to see How To Paint A Farmhouse Shelf Using Ombre Technique.
How To Paint A Farmhouse Shelf Using The Ombre Technique
Supplies needed:
- Your Thrifted Item
- 2 of your favourite paint colours – I used Fusion Mineral Paint – Heirloom and Raw Silk
- Brush – I used my Cling On! R12 and S30
- Screwdriver
- Fusion Mineral Paint – TSP
- Old Rags
- Spray Bottle
- Scrap paper
- Fusion Minerl Paint – Clear Wax
- Wax Brush – I used my Madeline Meduim
Step 1 – Remove all of the hardware and slip the paper in between the frame and the wire. This helps protect you getting unwanted paint onto the wire. Mix some TSP in warm water and clean the entire piece. Let dry.
Step 2 – Using your brush give the entire piece 2 coats of Raw Silk letting each coat dry completely.
Step 3 – Spray with water around the frame part of the shelf. Using your brush paint a thin strip of Heirloom.
Step 4 – Using a DRY brush blend the paint in long strokes to fade and blend into the raw silk on the outside of the frame. Continue on with the top and the bottom of the frame. Let dry.
Step 5 – Using your wax brush wax the entire piece to seal in all of your hard work.
Step 6 – Pop all of the hardware back into place and remover the paper.
And your all done!!
