Do you have that one thing in your craft room that you have had for ages and just didn’t know what to do with it? I sure did!!! This cheese board was a find in a thrift shop about 12 years ago… yes 12 years ago!!!! So when I was asked to join up with a team of blogging pals do join in with a Monthly Craft De-Stash Challenge I was in like Flynn! One because I would be able to make something of this Cheese Board and secondly reduce some of the goodies I have in my craft room! This is a simple project that can be made in one afternoon!
Farmhouse Repurposed Cheese Board Tray
Supplies needed:
- Thrifted Cheeseboard or something similar
- 4 Wooden drawer pulls
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Casement and Ash
- Fusion Beeswax
- Jute
- Glue Gun
- E6000 Glue
- 120 grit sandpaper
- Number Stencil
- Decor Art Lamp Black Paint
- Spouncer
Step 1– Paint the drawer pulls in Ash. Let dry and apply a second coat.
Handy Hint: Use the screw from the drawer pulls to make it easier to paint them and stop you from getting paint all over your fingers.
Step 2 – Give the cheese board front and back 2 coats of Fusions Casement. Letting the first coat dry completely.
Step 3 – Using your sandpaper distress the drawer pulls and the cheeseboard.
Step 4 – Stencil a number of your choice onto the top of the cheese board and distress lightly. Wax to seal.
Step 5 – Cut a piece of jute long enough to be wrapped around the handles glueing down each end.
Step 6 – Glue the drawer pulls to the base of the cheeseboard.
And there you have a nice farmhouse footed tray to add to your decor made in one afternoon! Be sure to check out all of the Craft De-Stash projects from my blogging pals below!
Happy Crafting!

Your cheese board turned out so well-it’s beautiful! The two of us may be in the running for oldest on-hand craft supplies ,lol. That purple cardstock is from 2003! Thankfully, wood and paper don’t spoil.

What a great up-cycle. I am gonna be on the lookout for a cheese tray now. I have pinned it for later! Thanks for sharing!
Your makeover updated the little board about ten years. It looks easy to do as well. I just finished an project where I used door pulls for feet and they are the perfect height.
Brilliant idea to use jute for handles to give it a farmhouse flare. Really cute. Once I get my spring cleaning done ugh I have to go thrift storing to see if I can come up with a similar project. Thanks for the inspiration.
You’re most welcome Leanna! Happy thrift shop exploring 🙂
