How to make a Double Sided Farmhouse Christmas Advent Calendar
Supplies needed:
- 1 x Pine or if you don’t have time to make one you can find them over in my SHOP or come along to one of our workshops to make one!
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Either Bayberry, Cranberry or Raw Silk
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Chocolate
- Advent Calendar Stencil – I cut mine from Vinyl but this one from Amazon would work too or stickers.
- Our Nest Stencil – Again I made mine from Vinyl but this one from Amazon would sure fo the trick.
- Foam Wedge
- Fusion Mineral Paint – Beeswax
- Paint Brush
- 25 small black tacks
- Hammer
- 12o grit sandpaper
- Tree sprig
- pip berries
- jute
- nail gun
Step 1 – Give one side of your advent calendar a coat of your favourite colour using your brush. As it is drying make your wreath. Cut your tree sprig to 5cm and glue gun the ends together. Twist around some pip berries and glue a jute bow at the top. Set aside. Apply a second coat of paint and let dry.
Step 2 – Using your sandpaper distress your advent calendar to your liking. Align your stencil on your advent calendar and use painters tape to secure into place. Pop out some white or cranberry paint pending on what colour you painted your advent calendar. Then start stencilling. Let dry. Then again distress to your liking.
Now for the other side
Step 3 – Flip over your advent calendar. Mix up some chocolate and water in a plastic cup, then using a lint-free cloth gently wipe the chocolate stain over the wood. Let dry. Grab your Our Nest Stencil and fix in place with painters tape. Using raw silk and foam wedge pounce away. Let dry and then remove the stencil. Distress to your linking.
Step 4 – Wax to seal both sides of your advent calendar. Grab your hammer and nail in your tacks. I just eyeballed it but if you don’t feel comfortable doing so, use a ruler and mark out where you would like the nails to go.
Then all you need to do is hang your wreath all ready for December 1st!
Then when it’s not Christmas you get to flip your advent calendar and enjoy a Farmhouse Our Nest Sign all year round!
Happy Painting!

Oh Sam I want one of these!! Its so farmhouse and perfect. I was thinking of making one that was magnetic, but it got to be too complicated.
This is a simpler version that makes more sense and I can actually accomplish. Love it.
Can’t wait to see what you make Leanna!!
What a cute idea! I love Farmhouse! My youngest is 15, so we don’t do Advent calendars anymore, but I might have to do this one just for wall art!
It sure is sad when the kiddies get too old to do advent calendars!! I love them so much that I have my husband sucked in to take the kids place lol!
Those turn out really pretty!
Thank you so very much!!
What font did you use for”days until Christmas” it’s really cute!
