Every now and again I stumble across a bargain! This sure was the case for this old telephone table. It was sitting underneath a larger table at my local thrift shop, looking all lonesome. Originally I didn’t see it!! I always like to do a second wander around when shopping in case I miss things! Thank goodness I did otherwise this would have been a missed opportunity to give this little gal a new lease on life. Sharing how to give a $3 Telephone Table Music Sheet Makeover which can be adapted to any table.
$3 Telephone Table Music Sheet Makeover
*This post contains affiliate links. Which means I may receive a very small commission to go towards my painting addiction ???? . It does NOT result in additional charges to you or cost you anything extra. See here for my full disclosure*

Supplies needed:
- Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint – Farmhouse White
- Paint Brush
- Music Sheets
- 120 grit sandpaper and sander
- Miss Mustard Seed Beeswax
- Mod podge
- Miss Mustard Seed Tough Coat
- 1 x drawer pull – I used this one.
Step 1 – Mix up your milk paint and let it sit while you give the entire piece of furniture a sand to remove any shine.
Step 2 – Start applying the milk paint to your piece of furniture. In the case of this telephone table, I gave it 2 coats of paint letting it dry in between each coat. Once completely dry sand accordingly and apply wax to seal but NOT over the top of the table. Just the legs, drawer front and base 🙂
Handy Hint
If you are a little confuzzled on the best way to distress check out my post on the best way I have found to distress.
Step 3 – Taking your mod podge cover the whole of the top of the table. Moving quickly starting at the top adhere the music sheet and work your way to the bottom rubbing to make sure that the music sheet sticks. Then using an old store card or bank card move in a circular motion to remove any air bubbles. Start in the centre and work your way out to the edges. Apply another coat of mod podge to seal. Let this dry overnight and then using the tough coat apply over the music sheet for extra durability. Add your drawer pull.
And there you have a fun way to transform something that was looking all drab and sad into something that looks like a million dollars. Plus it doesn’t hurt your bank balance 🙂
Happy painting!
